Abstract
The July 2024 Sde Teiman detention incident, involving allegations that Israeli reservists severely abused and sexually assaulted a Palestinian detainee from Gaza, became a major test of military accountability during the Israel-Gaza war. The subsequent March 2026 decision by Israel’s military legal authorities to drop charges against five soldiers intensified international criticism and renewed debate over impunity, detainee protection, and the rule of law in armed conflict. This analytical review examines the incident within the broader context of Palestinian detainee treatment, Israeli military justice mechanisms, and international humanitarian law.
